My ambition as a young budding artist was to be a wildlife illustrator. I could draw and my work was tight and accurate. This was not very expressive, I was portraying my intimate knowledge of my subject but thats all. Conveying my emotion, painting from the heart became more important.
Through working on various materials and surfaces, by using abstraction and mixed media, the work has become more honed, pared down, letting the marks describe the geology and biology.
Still passionate about wildlife, but the landscape has become more central often from a birds perspective looking down. The environment, habitat and conservation, hopefully is illustrated in my paintings.
