‘Haven’ is an exhibition of small-scale sculptures that explore the recurring idea of the ‘House’ motif which has punctuated my practice for 30 years.
Initially influenced by the experience of living on the Northeast coast of Yorkshire I have always been interested in the notion of living near or at the edge of something, a coast, an island, a harbour. Metaphorically they speak about the human condition and the desire for a safe and secure space.
Some of the materials used are reclaimed with some found on the beaches of Mull and other coasts.
